hal-info software package provides Hardware Abstraction Layer - fdi files, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hal-info
hal-info is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hal-info package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hal-info *
You will get with hal-info package name, version, architecture and description in a table
